Thanks for being in touch, Wilson. I appreciate the feedback, though the comment seems a bit strident for what is ultimately a largely tongue-in-cheek and complimentary piece on an esoteric (at best) aspect of the show.

With that said, I'm a bit confused by your assessment of the Latin. The piece specifically addresses why victoria can't be read as 'to victory'; it would need a different ending / case. Your reading of the meaning is, I suspect, spot on; I don't take issue with it but I'm still trying to figure out how they're working out the Latin to mean that or, really, any meaning. (And I attempted to offer my own interpretations of what is at best ambiguous Latin; as I said, I suspect that the ambiguity / density of the motto is the very point.) That, to be honest, was why writing the piece was so enjoyable.

By the way, if you've not been to the show's Twitter feed, it's worth a look. They posted a thread about the origin of the motto (after my piece was posted) that confirms that the motto does in fact mean what you've posited that it means and is also nonsensical Latin (in their telling, the product of a six year old's beginning Latin).
